About The Position

Role Summary/Purpose: In this role you will report to the VP, Supplier Risk Management Program Leader and you will oversee Synchrony’s Supplier Due Diligence, Quality Assurance & Analytics team, driving maturation of supplier due diligence, quality assurance through a risk-based, data driven approach, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence. In this role, you are responsible for advancing due diligence and validating core Program components through quality assurance processes, partnering closely with Supplier Evaluation Specialists spanning multiple risk disciplines, to ensure effective execution and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will lead efforts to simplify and train Supplier Managers on due diligence expectations ensuring disciplined, consistent execution across the organization while partnering with the Functional Quality Assurance teams for surveillance execution and testing. You will develop and maintain a comprehensive data driven reporting dashboards, committee slights and managing oversight, identification of emerging risks and escalation framework to uphold regulatory standards for supplier risk management, working collaboratively across multiple governance and control functions, including Program participants, Source to Pay partners, Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk and Internal Audit. You will be responsible for partnering with the Technology Solution Admin team to develop business requirements related to enhancing, simplifying, and innovating on facets of the Supplier Risk Management Program you oversee. Additionally, you will be responsible for alignment with the Compliance team working to enhance the compliance related components of the Supplier Management Program, which includes the process to assign laws and regs to supplier relationships, documenting controls to hold suppliers accountable to requirements which includes ensuring appropriate alignment to the Bank’s strategic vision, controllership, execution strategy, and ways to improve and drive consistency throughout the process. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in compliance or risk management-related fields (e.g., Business Management, Juris Doctor, Risk Management, or Supply Chain Management); in lieu of a degree 13+ years experience in Compliance or Risk
  • 10+ years of experience in Compliance or Risk with a proven track record of effective leadership, including coaching, mentoring, and performance development.
  • 3+ years at a Bank, Financial Institution or Credit Card company
  • Experience in areas such as regulatory compliance, second line oversight functions, vendor resiliency, exam and audit exposure, risk and issue management, and supplier compliance testing.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.
  • All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).

  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to third-party compliance risk and risk control programs.
  • Preferred certification such as Certified Regulatory Vendor Program Manager (CRVPM) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Supplier Risk Evaluation & Monitoring team by providing leadership, guidance, and support to a team of supplier evaluation specialists, and leaders, to manage adherence to the Supplier Risk Management program for third party relationships across the bank
  • Drive the maturation ongoing monitoring activities to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence with a focus on simplification.
  • Deliver timely and thorough program documentation (internal procedures and external facing job aids for Program Participants), training on ongoing monitoring expectations for Supplier Managers to promote consistent and disciplined execution.
  • Oversee execution of due diligence activities in collaboration with Supplier Evaluation Specialists across multiple risk disciplines.
  • Partner with Functional Quality Assurance teams to support surveillance execution and testing.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive, data-driven oversight, identification of emerging and escalation framework aligned with regulatory standards for supplier risk management.
  • Collaborate with governance and control functions including Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, and Source to Pay partners to ensure program alignment and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Solution Admin team to develop business requirements related to enhancing, simplifying, and innovating on the Evaluation and Ongoing Monitoring portions of the Program.
  • Ensure supplier risk management activities align with the Bank’s strategic vision, controllership, and execution strategy while continuously driving process improvements.
