Health And Science technologies Health and Science Technologies (HST) is a core business segment within IDEX, serving data center & power generation, semiconductor, pharma and life sciences, industrial, and space & defense markets, driving strong customer retention and attractive margins. With advanced materials and application know-how, we enable high performance, precision solutions that scale with quality – from early prototypes to full production. The segment generates approximately $1.49B in revenue, with a global footprint across 10 countries, 40+ sites, ~4,000 employees and a strong runway for sustainable profitable growth. The Vice President, HST Strategy is the segment’s strategist and growth architect. This leader sits on the HST leadership team and works closely with the Group Executive, VP of 8020 and business unit leaders to shape where the segment plays, how it wins, and how it delivers sustained outperformance. Summary Role Overview Reporting to the Group Executive, HST, the Vice President, HST Strategy, builds and leads a best-in-class strategy capability that delivers sustainable, profitable growth for HST. Responsible for developing a clear differentiated segment strategy that guides portfolio choices, where-to-play / how-to-win decisions, executes priorities, and is understood and used by Presidents and GMs across the segment. The role is accountable for enabling the segment to sustain profitable growth above market in support of future vision, including ownership of inorganic funnel health – identification, cultivation and execution. This leader acts as the strategic architect and execution partner to the Group Executive. They define and embed the segment strategy and portfolio choices, shape major long-term direction, go-to-market shifts, and prioritize the top organic and inorganic growth bets. The VP leads a high-performing strategy team, partners closely with business and commercial leaders, and ensures that strategic initiatives, innovation, and AI deliver measurable impact on revenue, margin, and enterprise value. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Approximately 12+ years of experience in strategy, corporate development, or related roles.
  • Background in industrials, dynamic technology business, manufacturing, or other complex B2B environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a top tier‑tier strategy consulting firm and/or in a corporate strategy leadership role.
  • Proven track record designing and executing growth strategies that deliver above market performance.
  • Experience with M&A strategy, pipeline development, and business case creation; exposure to due diligence and integration is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high performing ‑performing teams and to influence senior executives in a matrixed, global organization.
  • Comfortable working with data, advanced analytics, and AI use cases as a business leader (not necessarily as a technical expert).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development of quality strategic plans differentiated with strong analytics and action plans
  • Proactively delivers strategic decisions and external messaging which are grounded in credible, differentiated market, customer, and competitive insight, enhancing investor and leadership confidence.
  • Define and embed the segment strategy, growth priorities, and portfolio choices.
  • Shape long-term direction and major term direction and major go‑term direction and major goto‑tomarket shifts‑market shifts across markets, customers, channels, and geographies.
  • Prioritize and oversee execution of the segment’s top organic and inorganic growth bets.
  • Own inorganic funnel identification, cultivation and execution aligned with segment strategy, partnering with Corporate Development.
  • Own synergy goals in partnership with business leaders
  • Establish governance, KPIs, and value tracking so initiatives, innovation, and AI deliver clear financial impact. Innovation and AI are integrated into strategy as disciplined, value-creating levers, not experiments on the side.
  • Lead and develop a high-‑performing strategy team and elevate strategy capabilities across the segment.
  • Provide a clear, data driven‑driven segment narrative that supports Investor Relations and aligns with the enterprise story, includes proactive IR support with market insights and implications
  • Builds durable capability in strategy, advanced analytics, and strategic execution at the segment, platform, and business unit levels
