Your role at a glance The VP of Special Projects will be a key driver of global initiatives and focus on enabling the scaling of the business. Areas of responsibility may include the following: 1) Owning the global standard Commissioning Process document and program, enabling regional Commissioning Managers to successfully implement the standard and be a resources for regional Commissioning Managers. 2) Drive innovation in speed-to-market initiatives globally. Be familiar with the Global Reference Design to capture lessons learned, drive improved means and methods to ensure construction durations are competitive with the other colo providers globally. 3) This role will also have responsibility for other assigned initiatives such as large campus setup (500+MW) around the world. What we are looking for ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Reports Global VP of Construction Execution Primary responsibility for owning the standard commissioning program globally. Enables the regional commissioning managers to implement the global commissioning program to include KPI’s and continuous improvement such that repeat deficiencies are not occurring and are not impacting commissioning activities Refines practices/policies and develops methods/techniques for driving solutions for commissioning procedures. Regularly reviews regional portfolio level construction progress, commissioning progress, issues, and KPI metrics and assists where necessary to deliver business results. This role requires occasional on-site presence with travel globally as needed to assist teams implementing the standard or projects that need additional support. Leads innovation/speed to market initiatives globally and specifically with the Global Reference Design to capture lessons learned, drive improved means and methods to enable regional execution teams can deliver construction durations that are competitive with the other colo providers globally Be a thought partner and initial strategic interface on large campus setups (500+MW) around the world Have responsibility for other assigned initiatives KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Demonstrated expertise in Commissioning of datacenters Technical knowledge of datacenter construction, means and methods, all systems with specialist knowledge on MEP systems. Have ability to plan and setup “Mega” projects with speed to market that matches the fastest in the industry. Agile team leader who is additive to the team, will develop employees and seek to further success Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff Ability to operate in and promote a process-driven team environment Ability to logically analyze and solve problems Ability to effectively multi-task multiple projects Project Management English Language skills EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Degree required – technical degree, electrical engineering preferred. 10 or more years in a data center environment managing projects/operations including 5 years Data Center commissioning experience. Data Center construction project management. Experience leading large DC builds of 250MW+ Very strong experience in Data Center facility maintenance, operation and/or commissioning. Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Test Equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs. Use of sight, hearing and voice are required as well as motor skills. Close visual work on a computer terminal. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments. Ability to climb ladders and worked on raised platforms. Ability to transition through construction projects at every phase safely WORK CONDITIONS This position is expected to be remote for the foreseeable future with occasional need to be on site Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises. Extensive daily usage of a computer or workstation. Travel up to 35%, to ensure quality, commission and deliver the project as client turn over dates require. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment shifting priorities. Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support. Must be available by cell phone after hours or for emergency situations. CPR/First Aid Certified. Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
