The Vice President of Operations, under the direction of the president, leads the operations function (including manufacturing, engineering, safety, quality, and operational excellence) for the company. This is a key position to the organization, responsible for developing and executing strategy to achieve company growth plans and meet customer needs in the most efficient and effective manner. The Vice President of Operations is accountable for establishing and implementing long-range goals, plans and policies that will improve operational efficiency and profitability. Will ensure the company’s operations are implementing industry best practices, reaching optimal performance, and achieving strategic goals. As an active member of the company’s executive team, leads and supports company strategy and initiatives to enable the company to be a great place to work and to win in the industry and with our customers. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge of an advanced field of professional or technical learning, customarily acquired through formal instruction and study, typically a B.S. or B.A. Degree.
  • Minimum 15 years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • Minimum 7 years leading multi-site operations
  • Experience in Wire & Cable, or closely related industry
  • Proven track record improving productivity and performance, implementing and sustaining continuous improvement, and application of best practices.
  • Well-versed in methodologies such as lean and experience implementing in different environments.
  • Extensive experience with systems and productivity tools
  • Demonstrated history of hiring, retaining, and promoting world-class operations leaders and managers, with the experience, knowledge, and tools to be a performance management leader.
  • Recognized industry leadership in operational excellence; experience driving process improvement in a top-tier industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to drive process improvement and standardized work across a geographically distributed multi-site network.
  • A strong assessor of talent who can promote and drive succession planning at the site-level.
  • A change agent: experience in utilizing management analytics and financial information to drive functional and organizational change.
  • Ability to organize, retrieve and report information.
  • Leading results effectively/collaboratively through others especially those who do not report directly in the business and other functions
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in verbal and written form in front of small and large groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal tactfully with employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of world-class processes in the areas of EH&S, working with the Safety function and plant leadership teams to develop a solid safety culture within the plants in order to achieve an accident-free work environment.
  • Operations Leadership: Oversee day to day operational activities including product manufacturing, warehousing, and inventory maintenance, order management and quality.
  • Establish and analyze Key Performance Indicators for all teams to drive cost reductions, cycle time reductions and quality improvements.
  • Develop and drive a comprehensive, continuous improvement strategy across the company
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities throughout Operations to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and maintain or exceed quality and safety expectations.
  • Manage plant leadership teams and operational leaders to enhance best-in-class programs and processes.
  • Evaluate and execute key metrics to improve product and profitability within the plants.
  • Assess the company’s current operational capability and develop a recommended action plan to meet current and future demands.
  • Effectively maximize daily volume, profitability and delivery to increase profits
  • Ensure team members meet customer expectations by complying with product specifications, and shipping and packaging requirements, to avoid chargebacks and customer complaints.
  • Review and analyze productivity, report productivity to leadership; implement actions to improve output.
  • Lead the review and upgrade of manufacturing policies, procedures, and standards that will drive Cerrowire to a competitive advantage.
  • Execute established goals/targets for leveraging process standardization to deliver increased annual productivity and cost efficiency within the plants.
  • Effectively implement longer term succession and development plans for the next generation of manufacturing and operational leaders.
  • Maintain a high-level of motivation and morale in the plants in addition to building a team-oriented work environment.
  • Promote an atmosphere of accountability that focuses on quality and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain professional and effective communication throughout the organization with all levels of team members, fostering a positive environment and teamwork.
