About The Position

Banesco USA is seeking a VP, Operational Risk Officer for our Risk Management business unit.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in the Banking industry in the Risk unit.
  • Proficient and advance computer skills including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of the bank’s system and processing activities.
  • Strong knowledge of Banking Regulations is required.
  • Strong analytical skills in order to detect and identify weaknesses in the bank’s systems and the ability to identify the root cause of the weakness.
  • Strong presentation skills to various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task, with strong organization, time-management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong customer service skills, ensuring satisfaction of both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work and complete task producing high quality results within a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more risk certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of the Operational Risk Management program, policies & procedures, monitoring reports and risk metrics
  • Works with other departments to foster a strong operational risk culture across the bank
  • Conducts the Process Risk Assessment to develop the RCSA Annual Plan
  • Coordinates risk control self-assessments across various bank areas, serving as an operational expert to challenge and improve the identification and mitigation of operational risks
  • Recommends mitigation actions and ensure development of action plans by process owners
  • Validates the implementation of action plans by the process owners
  • Performs trend analyses of RCSA results, risk events, and audit and examination findings
  • Develops written reports, memos, and presentations on RCSAs, risk events, analyses, and other reviews and present to Management and Board Committees
  • Investigates risk events along with appropriate department to determine root causes and develop and monitor mitigation strategies and plans
  • Serve as consultant on business risk decisions, assisting managers during their assessment of risk and controls and formulation of risk responses/treatments.
  • Conducts operational risk analyses and reviews of new activities, including products and services, and other exposures
  • Develop and educate employees and designated champions in the organization to facilitate the execution of key Operational Risk processes and controls, and develop a risk management culture
  • Responsible for completing annual training program assigned
  • Performs other functions and /or duties as assigned
