About The Position

The Vice President of Accounting at Payactiv, Inc. is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the accounting function during a critical growth phase. This position requires a visionary leader with extensive experience in managing complex financial operations, particularly in a high-receivables environment typical of a fintech company. The VP of Accounting will ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while reporting directly to the SVP of Finance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a Head of Accounting, Controller, or equivalent role.
  • Experience in a fintech, SaaS, or high-growth startup environment with $50M+ ARR is preferable.
  • Expertise in managing large receivables portfolios and optimizing collections processes.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Intacct) and experience with ERP implementations.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively engage with executives, board members, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and scaling accounting functions in a growth-oriented company.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred).
  • An advanced degree (MBA) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with receivables factoring, securitization, or similar fintech models.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a new Accounts Receivable (AR) system to improve scalability, efficiency, and accuracy in managing high-volume receivables.
  • Optimize revenue recognition and receivables management processes to align with business growth.
  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Oversee and manage financial audits with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of audit deliverables and maintaining strong relationships with auditors.
  • Ensure successful completion of annual financial audits, achieving clean audit opinions with no material weaknesses.
  • Automate and streamline accounting processes, leveraging technology to handle the complexity of high receivables volume.
  • Work closely with the product and engineering teams to integrate financial systems with Payactiv's platform.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders (FP&A, Legal, Product, and Engineering) to support strategic initiatives and provide insights for optimizing the company's financial position.
