Requirements

  • Twelve years of proven management experience inclusive of an extensive maintenance/purchasing background, transportation industry experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization; ability to manage significant budgets; possess strong negotiation and diplomacy skills; ability to make prompt decisions; complex problem solving skills and high-level analytical thinking; ability to perform strategic and progressive analysis toward constant improvements; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of the company's fleet assets and shop network. Ensure all assets are maintained for maximum uptime, safety and cost-efficiency. Ensure compliance of all operating aspects in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and all other appropriate regulatory agencies. Collaborate with the executive leadership team to align maintenance with business goals.
  • Oversee various department operations and ensure department leaders conform to all processes related to asset management activities. Responsible for the design, development, administration and implementation of all newly developed programs within designated departments.
  • Manage, develop and motivate highly qualified maintenance and non-maintenance professionals; ensure the utilization of efficient and effective processes and systems.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Swift's Shop purchasing programs. Establish and oversee adherence to policies concerning component standards and national purchasing agreements. Proactively manage parts supply as well as the purchase process of new tractor/trailer equipment to meet the demand and needs of the Fleet while ensuring the objectives and equipment ratio's established by executive management is followed.
  • Oversee all aspects of Swift's diesel emission fuel (DEF), lube, fuel procurement and fuel supply management. Ensure existing procedures are effectively maintaining compliance with fuel purchasing programs, while also developing and implementing new programs to meet Swift's long and short-term objectives.
  • Maximize return on investment through component specifications and by lowering Swift's overall operating cost per mile. Conduct extensive negotiations of price reductions and concessions on current and future purchasing agreements. Establish and maintain good vendor relations by consistently communicating and working with suppliers as well as corporate and dealer employees.
  • Develop, administer and maintain a cost effective warranty system to obtain extended warranty and warranty recovery programs.
  • Act as a member of the Swift Hedge team to monitor and negotiate hedge programs and prices regarding fuel, tire, lube and DEF procurement. Responsible for all fuel activities from deliverty to use and all shop related activities while ensuring overall expenditures are utilized efficiently. Lead designated teams to reduce fuel usage while continuously developing and implementing technological advances with Opti-Stop and FuelQuest systems. Responsible for all changes within the fuel optimization system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
