About The Position

The VP, FSL Collateral Valuation position at Morgan Stanley involves leading a global valuation team within the Fixed Income Secured Lending (FSL) Real Estate sector of Credit Risk. The role focuses on conducting valuation due diligence and monitoring real estate loans that serve as collateral for financing transactions. The individual will provide independent assessments of the real estate backing these loans, ensuring compliance with appraisal standards and making recommendations based on market conditions.

Requirements

• 6-8 years of real estate valuation experience in at least one of the following: commercial real estate, data centers or residential real estate.
• Experience with valuations and markets in the US.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

• MAI - AI-GRS - RICS certifications preferred.
• Experience/knowledge of Western European and Asian (specifically Australia) markets is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the collateral loan appraisal review process and opine on the reliability of the appraisal by ensuring assumptions are supported and reasonable.
• Ensure compliance of the collateral loan appraisal with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), FIRREA, and internal policies.
• Determine if market values have become challenged and make recommendations to the Global Head of Credit for FSL regarding updating valuations for underlying properties.
• Develop processes and procedures to create efficiencies and improvements to monitor market activity.
• Manage a team of valuation experts including external vendors.
