About The Position
The Vice President for Academic Success at Northwest Vista College serves as the chief academic officer, responsible for overseeing various academic units while ensuring the academic excellence and integrity of the institution. This role is pivotal in maintaining compliance with the policies set forth by the Board of Trustees, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and various accrediting agencies. The Vice President will work closely with the President of the College and collaborate with Vice Chancellors to align academic strategies with institutional goals. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for a diverse student body, which includes a significant percentage of first-generation college students and those relying on financial aid. In addition to overseeing academic programs, the Vice President will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that enhance student success and retention. This includes evaluating academic programs, ensuring faculty development, and promoting innovative teaching practices. The Vice President will also engage with community stakeholders to align academic offerings with workforce needs, thereby enhancing the college's role as a leader in workforce education in the region. The position demands a visionary leader who can inspire faculty and staff, advocate for students, and drive academic excellence across the institution.
