About The Position

The Vice President, Corporate Environmental Sustainability & Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for setting the direction for and providing oversight of the company's environmental sustainability and EHS strategies. This position plays a pivotal role, working in close collaboration with corporate and local operations teams, in ensuring the organization meets its environmental sustainability goals in compliance with relevant environmental regulations, while helping to foster a culture that safeguards the health and safety of employees and the communities in which the company operates. This role works in partnership with various internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive programs aligned with the company's commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Sustainability, Safety Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in environmental sustainability and EHS roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking capabilities a plus.
  • Food/Beverage industry experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing corporate environmental sustainability and EHS programs.
  • In-depth understanding of environmental laws, regulations, and industry best practices, including expertise in EPA, OSHA, and international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, predictive analytics, and corrective action implementation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in safety management systems, data analytics, and real-time risk assessment tools.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar preferred credentials.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work in close collaboration with corporate and local operations teams to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive enterprise environmental sustainability strategy aligned with the company's vision, business priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Establish near- and long-term corporate environmental sustainability goals and work with key internal partners to create a roadmap for achieving them.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and regulations related to environmental sustainability and EHS, advising relevant members of the executive team and divisional operations leaders on strategic implications.
  • Work collaboratively with local operations teams and relevant corporate functions to integrate environmental sustainability and EHS considerations into the company's business planning and operational practices.
  • Collaborate with relevant executive team members and divisional operations leaders to implement advanced technologies where warranted to enhance environmental sustainability and EHS performance, including data analytics, monitoring systems, and real-time risk assessment tools.
  • Manage the budget and resources for corporate environmental sustainability and EHS programs, ensuring effective and efficient use.
  • Lead the development and execution of environmental sustainability programs that minimize the company's environmental impacts in areas including water stewardship, carbon emissions, and waste and packaging.
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant global sustainability reporting regulations and environmental and safety regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and ISO standards.
  • Develop, enhance, and enforce policies related to environmental sustainability and EHS governance practices, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and industry standards.
  • Establish and monitor relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) for environmental sustainability and EHS, providing regular reports to relevant members of the executive team and key divisional operations leaders.
  • Oversee the preparation and publication of environmental sustainability disclosures, ensuring they meet regulatory and stakeholder requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with corporate and local operations teams to regularly audit and assess environmental sustainability and EHS programs for effectiveness.
  • Lead responses to regulatory audits and compliance reviews.
  • Provide guidance relative to the development and implementation of best practices in EHS within the company's operating facilities.
  • Work collaboratively with local operations teams relative to incident investigations, analyzing trends, and developing corrective action plans.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and business continuity strategies to ensure operational resilience.
  • Engage with various external stakeholders, serving as an ambassador of the company's environmental sustainability and EHS initiatives.
