The Role As a member of our Global Talent Center of Expertise, the Vice President, Enterprise Leadership Development will partner across business units and functions to design and implement strategic leadership initiatives and programs to cultivate and enhance leadership excellence aligned to Stanley Black & Decker’s mission, values and business priorities. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Talent for the enterprise, this key role will build strong relationships with peers, direct and indirect reports, and executives within a matrix environment and serve as a liaison to both HR and business leaders as well as functional point of connectivity with the regions. The Vice President, Enterprise Leadership Development will lead a small team of executive and leadership development subject matter experts and utilize extensive experience, strong intellectual curiosity and a highly collaborative approach to identify, design and deliver impactful strategies and programs. This position can be based in New Britain, Connecticut, Towson, Maryland or Charlotte, North Carolina, though remote locations will be considered.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global leadership development strategy aligned with organizational objectives and growth plans
  • Embed the leadership framework and establish clear expectations for leaders across SBD
  • Build and scale leadership programs, including workshops, coaching, mentoring, and other developmental interventions for leaders across all levels
  • Lead the Leadership Development team in developing and managing a global Leadership Development program portfolio
  • Integrate innovative learning methodologies and technologies to enhance leadership development programs and stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in leadership development.
  • Partner with senior leaders, department heads and regional stakeholders to understand business unit and global leadership needs
  • Partner with C-Suite and HRBP Leaders to identify, accelerate, and retain top & critical talent
  • Influence and partner with HR teams internal stakeholders across business areas and geographies to create sustainable, enterprise-wide solutions
  • Manage leadership development portfolio, including managing budget and external partners and vendors
  • Enable and champion talent assessment tools and methodologies to identify leadership capabilities and areas for development
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators to assess the impact and effectiveness of leadership development programs
  • Utilize data-driven insights to continuously refine and improve the relevancy and impact of leadership development initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, business administration, or a related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of previous experience in a variety of Talent Management, Leadership, Development, or related roles with increasing scope of responsibility
  • Subject matter expert in leadership development strategy and program design
  • Experience managing teams in large, multinational matrixed organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to create scalable solutions across a multi-national organization and build plans to impact and influence change
  • Experience presenting to and partnering with Executive Leaders
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage/work effectively in dynamic environment
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and leaders through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
  • Data-driven mindset and ability to evaluate learning impact
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, using good judgment, consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • International / multi-national HR experience
  • Strong computer proficiency (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated exceptional leadership development expertise with a focus on executive development in a diverse, global environment, preferably within the industrial, consumer or manufacturing industries.
  • He or she will be a collaborative, business-oriented leader who can think creatively and strategically to align leadership development goals to the needs of the business.
  • Superb presentation skills, both written and oral, are required, as well as executive presence.
  • Additionally, it is essential that the candidate has an extremely strong attention to detail and can develop “end to end” solutions.
  • The ability to think strategically, “roll up the sleeves” and drive results is vital for this role.
