About The Position

The VP of Engineering leads the bank’s software development and data engineering functions, setting technical direction and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and compliant technology solutions. This role owns architecture, development standards, and execution across cloud platforms, APIs, and data systems that power the bank’s products, analytics, and fintech partnerships. This position reports directly to the CIO, and partners closely with IT and other business leaders to translate strategy into reliable, high-impact technology to better serve our partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams and delivering complex, enterprise-grade solutions.
  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms (Azure), DevOps, CI/CD, and modern programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of financial services security and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI, NIST).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in banking or financial services is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop software and data engineering teams, fostering a high-performance culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Define and enforce technical standards, architecture, and best practices across software development, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Drive the design and delivery of APIs, microservices, and data platforms supporting banking products and fintech integrations.
  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud operations, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security (Azure, Power Platform, etc.).
  • Partner with IT leadership to align application architecture with infrastructure strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, security frameworks, and internal governance policies.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
  • Own technical quality through code reviews, documentation standards, and ongoing system monitoring and optimization.
  • Proactively identify and resolve production issues while driving long-term platform improvements.
