About The Position

Impiricus is looking for a hands-on VP, Engineering to lead our engineering organization and own the full lifecycle of our mobile products. This is a senior leadership role for someone who has personally built and scaled native mobile apps, led high performing teams, and partnered closely with product, design, and business stakeholders. You will be responsible for technical vision, execution, and team growth, while still being close to the code and architecture. This role is ideal for a former CTO or VP R&D from a small to medium sized startup who enjoys building, scaling, and shipping real products used by real users.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including management of teams with more than 10 people
  • Proven experience personally leading native mobile development on both iOS and Android
  • Strong hands on experience with Swift, Kotlin, Python, and Postgresql
  • Demonstrated success building a mobile app from scratch and bringing it to market, including managing real user growth and usage post launch
  • Prior experience as a CTO, VP Engineering, or VP R&D at a small to medium sized startup
  • Deep understanding of mobile app architecture, performance optimization, and platform specific best practices
  • Experience working with analytics and attribution tools such as Mixpanel, Appsflyer, or equivalent platforms
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision making skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands on execution

Responsibilities

  • Own the end to end engineering strategy and execution for DocUpdate’s mobile and backend platforms
  • Personally lead and mentor teams developing native iOS and Android applications
  • Ensure successful delivery of mobile apps from initial concept through App Store and Google Play launch and ongoing iterations
  • Scale and manage an engineering organization of 10-20 engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development
  • Work closely with Product, Design, Data, and Business to translate requirements into scalable, high quality technical solutions
  • Drive architectural decisions across mobile and backend systems, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and security
  • Establish best practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and release management
  • Own analytics and experimentation strategy, including implementation and usage of tools such as Mixpanel, Appsflyer, or similar
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare related standards and data protection requirements
  • Act as a key member of the dev leadership team, contributing to company strategy and long term planning
