Job Description The VP, Customer‑Obsessed Content Strategist provides strategic leadership for communication and messaging direction across acquisition, engagement, and retention for the PCS credit card portfolio. This role partners with strategy managers and business line leaders to interpret marketing strategies and translate them into clear, customer‑centered communication guidance. The position ensures communication is structured, consistent, aligned to customer‑journey needs, and effectively supported by agency and channel partners. This role serves as a key connection point between strategic planning and creative development, enabling scalable, relevant, and customer‑focused communications across channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 or more years of related experience in marketing and marketing strategy with proven ability to deliver results
  • Apply structured, analytical thinking to clarify complex communication needs.
  • Translate strategy into practical communication guidance that teams can execute consistently.
  • Build strong cross‑functional relationships and influence alignment through clear and logical communication.
  • Focus on improving the effectiveness, consistency, and speed of communication delivery across channels.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in content, communication, or direct‑marketing strategy within the financial services industry.
  • Strong foundation in direct‑marketing strategy, including email, direct mail, and digital communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret business strategies and translate them into customer‑focused communication direction.
  • Experience partnering with agencies and cross‑functional teams to support large‑scale, multi‑channel communication initiatives.
  • Knowledge of customer‑journey design, segmentation, and lifecycle‑marketing best practices.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Agility in thinking and delivery, along with proven ability to take direction in support of company goals
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects and assignments that are completed on time and on budget

  • MBA or equivalent markers of high achievement are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead communication strategy for acquisition and cardholder direct‑marketing touchpoints.
  • Translate marketing strategies into communication guidance grounded in customer insights, behavioral intent, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Collaborate with agencies and research partners to incorporate competitive insights and customer learnings.
  • Translate product features and benefits into clear, customer-relevant value propositions.
  • Identify gaps between business objectives and customer relevance and recommend adjustments prior to creative development.
  • Serve as a strategic connection point between planning and creative development to ensure message consistency, accuracy, and clarity.
  • Provide strategic direction to agencies and internal partners to support aligned, customer-focused communications across channels.
