VP of Construction Operations – Scope of Work Are you a hands-on construction leader ready to build the future of housing? From model homes to amenity packages, you'll oversee it all - driving quality, managing teams, and setting up entire communities from the ground up. Enterprise & Strategic Leadership Demonstrated ability to develop and execute company-wide construction operating strategy , including standardized processes, budgeting discipline, and scalable execution frameworks. Experience balancing long-term business objectives with short-term project delivery demands. Strong understanding of construction finance drivers: Cost-to-complete Variance management Contingency governance Procurement leverage Ability to lead at both the portfolio level and the project level , ensuring alignment between corporate priorities and field execution. Operational Excellence & Detail-Level Execution Highly capable of operating "in the weeds" with Directors, Project Managers, Purchasing Agents, and field teams to solve day-to-day execution challenges. Deep knowledge of construction workflows, including: Bid leveling and trade awards Vendor performance management Change order discipline Schedule-risk mitigation Field-to-office accountability loops Ability to implement operational rigor while maintaining speed and flexibility across active communities. Team Building & Leadership Development Proven track record of building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing construction teams across regions. Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive accountability through all levels, from executive leadership to onsite project teams. Experience developing organizational structure, role clarity, and performance standards for: Project Managers Superintendents Purchasing teams Regional operational leaders Cross-Functional Collaboration Ability to partner effectively with centralized corporate functions including: Purchasing Accounting Investor reporting Development Asset Management Strong communication and influence skills to align diverse stakeholders around shared execution goals. Systems, Process, and Technology Orientation Strong competency in construction operating systems (ERP, budgeting, procurement, project management platforms). Ability to drive adoption of standardized tools such as WBS for: Purchasing workflows Vendor compliance Budget governance Reporting and performance dashboards Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate operational metrics into executive-level decisions. Other duties may be assigned, as necessary. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum 10–15 years of progressive construction leadership experience, including multi-site or regional oversight. Proven experience leading construction operations at the executive or senior director level, ideally within build-to-rent, multifamily, homebuilding, or large-scale residential development. Strong background in purchasing, cost controls, trade strategy, and contract execution across multiple markets. Essential Functions Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with travel as required for onsite project presence and after hour work if needed. Ability to review budgets, contracts, schedules, and performance reports. Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and executive leadership.
