About The Position

The VP / Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager provides strategic support to a regional Commercial Real Estate Banking team. This role focuses on managing portfolio risk, supporting credit analysis, and assisting with special projects to ensure strong client relationships and sound credit practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience required.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial lending, or financial examination.
  • Proven experience with commercial real estate lending and portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with loan documentation and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience in risk assessment and managing nonperforming loans.
  • Strong credit analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Ability to negotiate credit terms and structure complex deals.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence and relationship building.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in mentoring or training junior team members is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with commercial banking leadership and designated bankers to manage existing client relationships and evaluate potential new clients.
  • Assist with onboarding select customers, ensuring a smooth process through coordination with internal teams (Loan Coordinator, Treasury Management, Credit, etc.).
  • Monitor booked credit facilities, including interim financial reviews, construction draws, covenant compliance, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage the collection of required financial information and other documentation within credit agreements and review compliance with covenants contained within loan agreements.
  • Analyze financial statements and prepare credit proposals for existing and prospective clients.
  • Review loan committee presentations, annual credit reviews, and problem loan summaries.
  • Maintain reporting infrastructure and develop portfolio trend reports to monitor risk and industry guidance.
  • Administer nonperforming loans and support risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in establishing and negotiating credit terms, including costs, repayment methods, and collateral requirements.
  • Mentor junior Portfolio Managers and assist in training future bankers and coordinators.
  • Support preparation of materials for team meetings, executive reports, audits, and regulatory examinations.
