About The Position

The Vice President & Chief Enterprise Systems Officer (VP & CESO) is a pivotal member of the JHS executive leadership team, responsible for the strategic direction, implementation and optimization of clinical and business application systems across the health system. This role demands visionary leadership, deep technical acumen, and a proven track record in implementing complex enterprise systems, particularly within healthcare environments. This role oversees application services such as Epic (EHR) and Infor CloudSuite (ERP), ensuring that both platforms support operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care. Reporting to and partnering closely with the SVP & CIO and senior leadership, the VP & CESO drives innovation, ensures alignment between technology and clinical/business objectives, and champions scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions that advance JHS's mission and long-term strategic goals. This leader embodies the JHS Leadership Success Factors and fosters a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability. This leader collaborates closely with clinical, financial, and operational leadership to align technology with organizational goals, ensuring seamless integration and functionality across all systems.

Requirements

  • Generally requires 7 to 10 years of related experience in enterprise application leadership, preferably in healthcare system environment.
  • Leadership experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field is required.
  • Master's degree in Information Technology / Information Systems / Computer Science is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a forward-looking application strategy that supports digital transformation, operational scalability, and clinical excellence.
  • Execute the vision, roadmap, and governance for enterprise application systems (EHR and ERP).
  • Lead enterprise application initiatives to ensure system interoperability, performance optimization, and cybersecurity resilience.
  • Lead strategic planning for application lifecycle management, and system upgrades initiatives.
  • Oversee the design, development, and enhancement of enterprise applications tailored to evolving clinical, business, operational, and administrative needs and alignment.
  • Oversight and leadership of all Epic and Infor implementations including governance, program management, change management, command center leadership, and ensuring integration across clinical, revenue cycle, and ancillary applications.
  • Ensure optimization of clinical workflows, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner and co-sponsor with CMIO and CNIO the Epic implementation to support clinician adoption and satisfaction with Epic.
  • Provide direction for ERP functions including finance, supply chain, HR, and payroll within the Infor CloudSuite platform.
  • Drive business process improvements and automation in collaboration with administrative and operational leaders.
  • Ensure successful integration between Infor and Epic systems, enabling seamless data flow and accurate reporting.
  • Direct the full lifecycle of enterprise applications - from implementation to optimization and retirement.
  • Establish performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations to ensure high user adoption, measurable ROI, and alignment with clinical and business priorities.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison between IT and clinical/business stakeholders to translate organizational needs into effective technology solutions.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements to ensure value delivery and operational continuity.
  • Develop and manage budgets for applications and support services.
  • Maintain robust governance frameworks for application usage, access control, and data integrity.
  • Ensure all systems comply with HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership to uphold JHS standards, policies, and procedures across all IT service domains.
  • Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement through strategic feedback loops, agile development practices, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead initiatives in system design, program development, and technology integration to enhance reliability, scalability, and user experience.
  • Ensure all IT initiatives adhere to hospital standards, regulatory mandates, and industry benchmarks.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with operational guidelines and security protocols to protect patient data and institutional integrity.
  • Provide strategic analysis, development, and support for IT applications that enable data-driven decision-making and clinical excellence.
  • Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for application failures, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Represent IT leadership in cross-functional executive forums, contributing to enterprise-wide strategic planning and innovation.
