About The Position

Manages the sound extension of the commercial and mortgage lending functions of the Branch within delegated authority. Oversees all credit and support functions within the Branch.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with emphasis in accounting, agriculture, or business required.
  • Strong credit skills; at least five (5) years of agricultural credit experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in credit administration, financial and credit analysis required.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Farm Credit regulations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of agriculture, accounting, business law and economics is required.
  • Management experience, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Ability to effectively make decisions independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong skills in organization, directing, planning, and written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient in the use of computer hardware and software common to the Association (i.e. Excel, Word, Windows, Hot Docs, etc.)
  • Mobility on unimproved properties and/or construction sites required.
  • Some travel required in performance of job.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the credit administration of the Branchs commercial and mortgage lending function in accordance with established policies of the Association; maximize earnings from the respective portfolios through effective and efficient management practices.
  • Monitors all functional areas of lending operations within the Branchs commercial/mortgage portfolios to include, but not limited to, credit quality, credit delivery, loan pricing, etc.
  • Identifies potential business opportunities by visiting farms and ranches, prospecting, and making marketing calls.
  • Develops relationships with internal and external contacts to market credit services.
  • Represents and promotes Western AgCredit at agricultural organization meetings and events.
  • Maintains a professional presence throughout the agricultural community and develops a network among community leaders and influencers.
  • Oversees the implementation of Association programs and procedures in the Branch.
  • Assists Loan Officers within the Branch on loans with complexity or experiencing difficulty.
  • Administers human resources activities, staff salary recommendations and performance reviews for individuals with direct reporting relationships.
  • Makes recommendations to management for hiring, corrective actions or terminations for staff within the Branch.
  • Provides training to staff; encourages and mentors employee development of direct reports.
  • Oversees Marketing efforts and budget in the Branch also coordinates marketing efforts with the VP-Lending Manager and Marketing Director.
  • Directly services a loan portfolio, anticipating loan actions and identifying risks within the portfolio.
  • Approves loans and loan servicing within delegated authorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
