The Volunteerism Summer Art Program Student Worker position offers selected applicants engagement in an immersive service-oriented experience providing leadership, mentorship, teaching, and collaborative opportunities. This opportunity is designed to allow selected applicants, with a concern for their surrounding community, to gain professional experience utilizing their creative skill sets to serve community partners (for example Alta Vista Elementary, Boys & Girls Club, and Girls Inc.) within the context of a long-term project. This program is a component of Alta Vista Elementary School’s Eagle Academy, and Girls Inc.’s Summer Program. The Eagle Academy is an annual summer program boasting a two-generational approach to educate and provide resources to both students and parents enrolled in the program. Student workers will support the program through the development and implementation of lessons and activities centered on art and literacy. Student workers will work with kindergarten through 5th graders. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the job: SITE: TBD, tentatively Alta Vista Elementary School and Girls Inc. Sarasota Campus. Team Meetings held at various on- and off-campus sites to be decided. Lesson preparation occurs at Ringling College of Art and Design. TIME FRAME: TBD. Tentative time frame May 26th – July 10th. 10 - 15 hours per week (Including Weekly Team Meetings, On-campus lesson planning, On-site lesson Facilitation, 1-1 Meetings, etc.).
