Requirements

  • Volunteers must be 16 years or older.
  • Minors (ages 16–17) may volunteer with parental/guardian consent.
  • Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum number of hours per month (typically 4–8 hours, depending on role).
  • Consistent attendance is important to maintain animal welfare and program continuity.
  • Passion for Animals and Conservation: Interest in reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods.
  • Education & Outreach: Willingness to assist with tours, workshops, or educational programs.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with staff, other volunteers, and visitors.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with flexible tasks, from animal care to administrative support.
  • Volunteers must follow all sanitation and safety protocols to ensure the well -being of both humans and animals.
  • Physical requirements vary by role (e.g., standing for tours, handling light animal enclosures).
  • Completion of volunteer orientation and training is mandatory before active participation.
  • Role -specific training may be provided for animal care, educational programs, or special events.
  • Some volunteer roles, especially those working with children or schools, may require background checks or reference verification.
  • Volunteers must demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and respect for animals, staff, and visitors.
