About The Position

The Volunteer Services Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the volunteer program, including planning, administration, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves leading a team of volunteers, ensuring high-quality patient-centered services, and actively participating in organizational planning and community engagement. The director will also manage resources effectively, develop policies for volunteer training, and promote the organization's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; Master's preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in public speaking preferred.
  • Experience managing a volunteer program in a large geographic territory preferred.
  • Experience in a supervisory role with remote teams, preferably in community or volunteer engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nonprofit Development and Administration or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps patient/family centered services and caring at the forefront; customer needs are exceeded.
  • Assures plans are implemented to improve sub-optimal quality or patient satisfaction scores.
  • Assures volunteer services team compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for supervision and training of volunteers.
  • Leads and engages in quality improvement projects in collaboration with the Quality/Planning Department.
  • Promotes, articulates, and models the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Manages and facilitates the articulation of organizational messages to diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Inspires others and instills meaning, value, and purpose in the work of staff and volunteers.
  • Assumes leadership roles on committees and task forces.
  • Monitors internal and external trends and participates in agency planning efforts.
  • Leads volunteer services team planning for annual objectives contributing to the strategic plan.
  • Continuously builds systems that enhance direct patient care time by volunteers while decreasing hierarchy.
  • Develops and implements annual comprehensive volunteer recruitment plan to ensure competent volunteers.
  • Participates in the development of the annual operating and capital budgets for volunteer services.
