We are a grassroots, donor, and volunteer-fueled community nonprofit. At Metropolitan Ministries, we serve families in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk and Hernando counties with compassion, practical help, and a willingness to make a huge difference. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for helping to plan and implement all efforts related to recruitment, cultivation, training, equipping, organizing and retention of volunteers to support the mission and vision of Metropolitan Ministries. This role involves maintaining the front office by providing excellent customer service, overseeing the online Volunteer Management System, and assisting volunteers in using the system. The coordinator will lead or train volunteers to conduct weekly New Volunteer Orientation and tours, ensuring new volunteers connect to opportunities. Additionally, the coordinator will recruit, onboard, and manage full-time equivalent (FTE) volunteers to support needs throughout the Ministry. They will assist in planning and delivering follow-up, recognition, and appreciation activities for volunteers, and work with staff to identify volunteer needs across the Ministry. The role also includes developing and recruiting volunteer positions to meet Ministry needs, orienting, training, scheduling, and placing volunteers, and supporting the facilitation of Church Mission Trips and other volunteer initiatives. The coordinator acts as a positive ambassador for Metropolitan Ministries in the larger community, creating a warm and supportive environment for volunteers and demonstrating a passion for the organization's mission and vision.
