About The Position

The Volunteer Program Specialist (VPS) at Stamford Health is responsible for overseeing, planning, and executing both Junior and Adult Volunteer programs. This role involves recruitment, training, and support of volunteers, as well as maintaining volunteer records in the database. The VPS plays a critical role in fostering a person-centered environment by exemplifying core values and principles, thereby enhancing the experience of patients, volunteers, employees, and physicians.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in a healthcare setting performing similar duties.
• Ability to work well with individuals at all organizational levels, patients, and the community.
• High level of competency with computer software, hardware, and internet.
• Knowledge of MS Office or equivalent software.
• Knowledge of database software.
• Superior verbal, organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Prior experience facilitating presentations and speaking to large audiences.

Responsibilities

• Oversee key Volunteer programs that align with strategic direction.
• Recruit, place, train, and coach Junior and Adult Volunteers, maintaining their records.
• Evaluate and analyze data, generating reports on volunteer programs.
• Manage external volunteer partnerships to ensure compliance with policies.
• Coordinate planning and execution of volunteer interview sessions and orientations.
• Facilitate the onboarding experience for volunteers, including health screenings.
• Address volunteer relations in collaboration with respective departments.
• Support volunteers through regular rounding in assigned departments.
• Create and present on volunteer services and programs as requested.
• Maintain and audit volunteer personnel files for compliance.
• Coordinate volunteer placement and scheduling for initial assignments.
• Participate in at least one Culture and Experience Committee.
