Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate degree or work equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in health environment preferred.
  • Experience in working with people.
  • Proven management and leadership skills are preferred.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Current CPR certified.
  • Driver's license, valid vehicle insurance and access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
  • Effective communication skills with a positive and outgoing attitude.
  • Ability to coordinate and evaluate volunteer services.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft suite.
  • Ability to learn multiple applications.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate agency volunteers.
  • Coordinate recruitment, training, ongoing education, and assignments for Hospice Volunteers according to regulatory and state guidelines.
  • Implement necessary actions to ensure that the program meets the standards set by regulatory or certification bodies regarding volunteer participation.
  • Submit timely reports to the Executive Director and Director of Clinical services regarding volunteer activities and levels of participation.
  • Meet with patients, caregivers, families, and hospice team to coordinate patient care related volunteer assignments.
  • Assign volunteers to appropriate activities.
  • Monitor reports from the volunteers and bring urgent items to the attention of the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate and timely volunteer activity care plan documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Supervise the provision of bereavement services reflective of patient and family needs.
  • Establish a Plan of Care that addresses bereavement needs with clear delineation of services to be provided.
  • Demonstrate active listening and impactful suggestions to bereaved during phone and home visits.
  • Lead and coordinate at least 12 effective sessions of Grief Support Group per calendar year.
  • Maintain Bereavement Binder with information and attendance sheets from Memorial Services, Grief Support Groups, Holiday events, and other Hospice and Community groups.
