The Judicial Externship for law students is an opportunity for highly motivated and self-reliant individuals who prefer a low-profile, behind-the-scenes role in the legal research process. Externs will engage in analytical reasoning and communicate through the written word. Duties may include drafting objective memorandums on civil, criminal, family law, and juvenile matters; performing legal research on various legal issues; reviewing and preparing tentative rulings for Law & Motion Calendars; and performing other duties as assigned. Externs are prohibited from working for lawyers, law firms, district attorney's office, public defender's office, or county counsel unless authorized, and must avoid outside employment that conflicts with their externship duties.
