About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to interview and assess potential youth and families for eligibility into the Community-Based program, ensuring that our standards for documentation, data management, and child safety are upheld. BBBSTC is seeking candidates who have evening and weekend hours with flexibility to work and schedule interviews on their own time. Preference will be given to candidates from the Twin Cities who are also available to meet youth and families in person for interviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field. Or meet one of the following qualifications:
  • Within 6 months of completing bachelor’s degree
  • AA degree and 2 years relevant work experience
  • No degree, 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Solid understanding of youth development principles and family dynamics
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Skilled in conducting interviews and writing clear, comprehensive assessments
  • Familiarity with mandated reporting requirements and best practices
  • Provides warm, responsive support to all participants, maintaining professionalism and empathy throughout the enrollment process
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities; adept at problem-solving
  • Effective at managing appointments and documentation with a focus on long-term goals and impact
  • Approaches work with cultural humility and an equity lens; aware of systemic barriers affecting youth and families
  • Goal-oriented with a commitment to quality, accountability, and measurable results
  • Proficient in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms; recognizes the value of accurate data in driving positive outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Interview and assess diverse volunteers for eligibility for the program
  • Schedule and conduct in-depth, virtual interviews. Some in-person preferred for local candidates.
  • Provide a program orientation and overview, including family and youth expectations, the enrollment process, and next steps
  • Co-Lead Parent/Guardian Orientation sessions to provide families with essential information about programs, policies, expectations, and available resources, fostering strong family engagement and collaboration.
  • Champion coaching conversations that uphold our values of belonging, opportunity, continuous learning, and cultural awareness.
  • Ensure a high level of proficiency in applying child safety and risk management throughout all aspects of job duties, including acting as a mandated reporter
  • Gather and review collateral information, as needed. This includes speaking with teachers, therapists, and social workers, and administering surveys to assess youth outcomes and meet grant requirements
  • Write detailed and comprehensive assessments based on participant interviews, including objective observations and recommendations for the right match and additional support needed
  • Complete all necessary database entries according to agency standards, with adherence to confidentiality
  • Connect participants with other community resources and referrals, as appropriate
  • Ongoing check-in’s with supervisor for case consultations and caseload review
  • Maintain knowledge of community needs, resources, and networks
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external constituents
  • Work collaboratively to achieve results as specified in the strategic plan
  • Promote teamwork by overseeing and participating in various teams, including work groups and interdepartmental meetings
  • Positively represent BBBS in the larger community
  • Assist in agency-wide events and initiatives including recruitment, fundraising, event management, and community outreach.
  • Honor and respect the diversity of lived experiences, fostering an inclusive and equitable environment within the organization.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the agency in order to achieve the BBBS mission
  • Handle data from youth, families, mentors, or other constituents with care, ensuring secure and private maintenance.
