About The Position

The Preceptor Hospice Volunteer role offers a meaningful opportunity for individuals, particularly veterans or retirees in Milwaukee County, to provide compassionate support to patients during their final journey. Volunteers will engage with patients and their families, offering companionship and assistance in various activities, all while being trained to fulfill this important role.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• TB testing required
• Background and reference check
• Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance
• Completion of orientation and training

Responsibilities

• Visit with the patient on your own schedule at their residence
• Assist with letter writing or other projects
• Read to the patient or watch their favorite TV programs together
• Play games with the patient
• Take the patient outside or for a walk
• Reminisce with the patient about their military career, profession, family, and listen to their stories
• Provide comforting support and presence to the patient
