About The Position

The Plantation Fire Department is seeking dedicated individuals to join as volunteer firefighters. This role involves providing fire protection services without a traditional paycheck, but members receive a stipend of $8.00 for each event they participate in, including responding to calls, training, and department activities. Those who respond to at least 20% of the calls each year are eligible for pension credits. The position requires a commitment to training and community service, with a focus on teamwork and leadership.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or College Degree.
• Must be a resident of Plantation or live within 2.5 miles and five minutes of a Plantation Fire Station.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass a physical exam.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire calls using personal vehicles after being alerted by a pager.
• Attend at least one drill each month after graduation from Basic Training.
• Participate in station and Association activities with family involvement.
