About The Position

Fairview Range is hiring a Volunteer Coordinator for our Home Care and Hospice team in Hibbing, MN. The Volunteer Coordinator oversees multiple aspects of the department operations, including volunteer coordination, fundraising initiatives, supply management and administrative functions to support the home care and hospice team. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive volunteer program that supports the mission and philosophy of hospice care. Duties include recruiting, training, supervising, and retaining volunteers who provide compassionate support to patients, families, and the hospice team. The Volunteer Coordinator ensures compliance with regulatory standards and promotes volunteer engagement throughout the organization and community. Additionally, this position manages fundraising events and donor relations to sustain program growth, oversees inventory and supply distribution for patient care, and performs a wide range of secretarial/office duties to ensure efficient day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and a deep commitment to the hospice philosophy of compassionate end-of-life care. Schedule: This position will work 72 to 80 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours on the day shift. Requirements

  • Associate's degree or completion of post-secondary diploma/certificate program in business administration field
  • Microsoft Office experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1 - 2-year experience in community organization, event planning, fundraising, public relations, business procedures, writing, and/or public speaking.
  • Hospice experience
  • Public relations experience

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the hospice volunteer program.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and documentation consistent with hospice standards and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program; implement improvements as needed.
  • Maintains volunteer schedules, assesses recruitment needs and ensures appropriate volunteer coverage.
  • Recruit volunteers through community outreach, speaking engagements, partnerships and collaborating with recruiters/marketing.
  • Conduct interviews and screenings to ensure volunteers are suitable for hospice work.
  • Match volunteers to appropriate assignments based on skills, availability, and interests.
  • Foster volunteer engagement, satisfaction, and recognition through regular communication, meetings, and appreciation events.
  • Develop and facilitate comprehensive orientation for volunteers that meets regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to volunteers in all service areas (patient care, bereavement, administrative, etc.).
  • Address performance concerns and ensure volunteers adhere to hospice policies, procedures and boundaries.
  • Coordinates ongoing educational opportunities after the orientation period.
  • Provides education to hospice staff and community groups on the role of hospice volunteers.
  • Maintains accurate volunteer records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure volunteer services meet or exceed all state, federal, and accreditation requirements (i.e., COPs, TJC).
  • Track and document volunteer hours and activities to meet the regulatory requirement that at least 5% of total hospice patient care hours are provided by volunteers.
  • Prepare reports for management, boards, and regulatory agencies.
  • Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events.
  • Develop creative fundraising strategies to reach revenue goals and expand donor engagement.
  • Assist in writing and submitting grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Manage donor acknowledgments, thank-you letters, and recognition programs.
  • Coordinate memorial and tribute gift programs, ensuring sensitivity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, social media content, and newsletters related to fundraising.
