About The Position

The Volunteer Coordinator will support Unbound’s Ambassador Collective- a passionate community of volunteer sponsors who share Unbound’s story and mobilize their communities for hope, connection, and action. In this role, you’ll build meaningful relationships with Ambassadors, equipping them to turn their compassion into impact as they represent and promote Unbound. You’ll be their encourager, connector, and creative partner- helping them inspire others to walk alongside families around the world. This role will be based in Kansas City. Unbound will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Who We Are Unbound is an international nonprofit based in Kansas City, Kansas, and founded by lay Catholics grounded in the Gospel call to put the needs of the marginalized and vulnerable first. Requirements

Excellent written and oral communication skills include the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages in a compelling manner.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience. For-profit and Non-profit experience preferred. Global experience is a plus.
1-2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or related nonprofit work.
Experience working with volunteers, event coordination, or grassroots organizing preferred.
Moderate to advanced computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Basic familiarity with CRM systems, spreadsheets, or volunteer management tools.
Well-developed ability to multitask and effectively manage and prioritize tasks.
Strong organization, follow-through, and time management skills.
Must possess a positive attitude and be open to new ideas with the ability to listen carefully, try new things, suggest alternatives, and solve challenges.
Self-starter, action-oriented. Influential and collaborative communication style.
Able to quickly establish credibility, build rapport, with the ability to build relationships and a sense of community in digital and in-person settings.
Occasional travel for volunteer events or team gatherings (approx.. 5-10%).
Energetic, self-starter who demonstrates a strong work ethic.
Collaborative, creative, and energized by teamwork and service.
Genuine passion for Unbound’s mission and commitment to empowering people through relationships.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in Spanish/English or other relevant languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

Serve as the main point of contact for Unbound’s Ambassador Collective, providing inspiration, resources, and guidance to help volunteers share Unbound’s mission effectively.
Equip volunteers with the tools, stories, and confidence they need to represent Unbound in their communities.
Build personal relationships with Ambassadors- celebrating their contributions, recognizing milestones, and keeping them inspired and connected.
Respond quickly and thoughtfully to volunteer needs, ensuring every Ambassador feels valued, supported and equipped to make a difference.
Create opportunities for connection among Ambassadors through virtual gatherings, online groups, and events that build belonging and shared purpose.
Help plan and host training sessions, webinars, and team calls that strengthen volunteer skills and deepen their understanding of Unbound’s mission.
Share inspiring stories, updates, and moments of impact that remind volunteers their work is making a difference.
Support onboarding of new Ambassadors- from welcome communications to orientation calls and training materials.
Assist with volunteer appreciation efforts, events, and recognition programs.
Track volunteer activity, engagement, and growth in Unbound’s CRM to ensure consistent communication and reporting.
Collaborate with Marketing and Engagement teams to update and share volunteer toolkits, media assets, and campaign materials.
Contribute creative ideas for how to grow and strengthen the Ambassador Collective over time.
Champion the spirit of Unbound’s mission by encouraging volunteers to connect their values, compassion, and action.
Inspire volunteers to confidently share Unbound’s story- from church presentations to community outreach events.
Gather stories and feedback from Ambassadors to highlight their impact and improve the program experience.
