About The Position

Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing counseling, case management, youth development, older adult service, and community development. For 50 years, Outreach has changed the lives of thousands of individuals, children, youth, and families in DuPage County, IL, and we are seeking to hire a diverse staff of highly competent professional employees to pursue Outreach’s mission to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be. Outreach is hiring a Full-time Volunteer Coordinator at Outreach Central Office in Carol Stream to oversee the coordination and management of volunteer engagement efforts, including recruitment, screening, placement, orientation and recognition across the agency. Responsibilities also include managing the volunteer database producing key communication pieces and reports, supporting the Volunteer Supervisor, Cohort, and supervising the Volunteer Services Associate. Additionally, this role coordinates volunteer program development and leads the volunteer engagement efforts for the three Outreach Christmas stores.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field, or a non-related field with certification in nonprofit management or volunteer management.
  • At least 3-5 years of related experience; experience coordinating volunteers and recruiting.
  • Strong communication.
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • A commitment to Outreach's Statement of Mission & Faith.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end volunteer engagement efforts, including recruitment, screening, placement, and orientation across multiple program sites.
  • Manage and maintain the volunteer database (Volgistics), ensuring accurate tracking of volunteer hours, records, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement annual volunteer engagement plans aligned with program needs and organizational goals.
  • Partner with Site Directors and Program Leaders to assess volunteer needs and strategically align resources to support program success.
  • Provide training, coaching, and ongoing support to staff to strengthen volunteer supervision and engagement practices.
  • Oversee volunteer recognition initiatives, including appreciation events, impact storytelling, and regular communications such as the bi-monthly newsletter.
  • Compile and analyze volunteer data to produce reports, including the annual fiscal year report, and leverage insights to inform decision-making.
  • Coordinate large-scale volunteer initiatives, including leadership of volunteer efforts for three annual Christmas Store events and one-time group service projects.
  • Supervise and support the Volunteer Services Associate, ensuring effective execution of daily operations and priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community and church partners, collaborating to expand volunteer pipelines and deepen engagement.
