About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to manage and grow its statewide volunteer program. This role oversees the full lifecycle of volunteer engagement, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and compliance, while ensuring alignment with departmental policies and security protocols. This role also tracks program data, supports volunteer initiatives and events, and ensures a positive and professional experience for all. Requirements

  • Knowledge of: -ADCRR policies, procedures, and security protocols related to volunteer services -Volunteer program administration, onboarding processes, and compliance requirements -State and Federal regulations related to background investigations and confidentiality -Community engagement and volunteer management best practices -Record keeping, data management, and reporting standards -Google workspace and or similar data tracking systems
  • Skill in: -Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse internal and external stakeholders -Organizing and prioritizing and managing multiple assignments and deadlines -Reviewing and auditing documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance -Data entry, tracking and report generation using spreadsheets or databases -Building and maintaining positive professional relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners
  • Ability to: -Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal and security-related information -Interpret and apply policies, procedures and program requirements -Work independently while exercising sound judgment and attention to detail -Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment -Plan, coordinate, and support training and program activities -Work effectively within a secure correctional environment as needed -Travel statewide as required

Nice To Haves

  • Some college courses or a degree in psychology, sociology, social work, communications, criminal justice, management, public administration, human resources or a related field
  • Two years of experience in volunteer coordination, human resources or program administration or related
  • Experience managing volunteer programs in a correctional or public sector environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the volunteer and program associates onboarding and clearance process form application intake through final approval, including background checks, required training and institutional clearance
  • Coordinates ID card issuance
  • Supports planning, scheduling, coordination and execution of volunteer and external facing events and initiative to support engagement and retention, including attendance at volunteer recognition events statewide
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers, program associates, and partner organizations and provinces guidance on ADCRR procedures and policies
  • Provides guidance on policies, procedures, and program requirements
  • Coordinates volunteer and program associates training and orientation
  • Arranges tours of ADCRR facilities and community corrections sites as needed for potential volunteers and program associates
  • Drives on State Business
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position
