About The Position

The Volunteer Center Manager at Food Bank for the Heartland (FBFH) plays a crucial role in reducing food insecurity by managing the operational aspects of the Volunteer Center and overseeing protein repack activities. This position is responsible for achieving operational goals through strategic planning and collaboration with various departments to enhance volunteer experiences and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years' leadership experience supervising staff.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in process improvement and program development.
• Experience can substitute for education.
• Commitment to the FBFH mission and values.
• Computer and technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Consistent organizational skills with a passion for a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 30lbs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Volunteer Center team and foster a culture of employee engagement and development.
• Manage inventory levels for packaging materials and ensure adequate supply for volunteer activities.
• Collaborate with multi-department teams to optimize logistics, production forecasting, and goal setting.
• Provide oversight for clean room operations, including protein repacking and adherence to cleanliness and safety standards.
• Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to develop engaging volunteer programs.
• Track and report on operational metrics in the Volunteer Center to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of various programs, including workforce development.
