The program coordinator for Volunteerism and Service-Learning will support co-curricular service and leadership programming aimed at deepening students’ learning and personal development through participation and impact in their communities.

  • Serve as advising project manager for large-scale student-run service initiatives.
  • Advise student planning teams by providing individualized trainings, guidance, and logistical support.
  • Take an active role in strategic vision and growth for The Community Engagement Collective, VSL’s peer-to-peer network of students interested in building community through service at UT Austin.
  • Ensure structural sustainability for the organization by providing leadership, assessment, facilitation, and other training to student leaders.
  • Manage financial and strategic partner relationships to ensure the sustainability and growth of Community Engagement Collective programming.
  • Assess impact and coordinate reporting according to requirements of all funding sources.
  • Educate and mentor student leaders to take an active role in or lead the development process for their programs.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with all partners – community, campus, and alumni – ensuring continuity and mutual benefit for each partnership.
  • Educate and mentor student leaders to take an active role in or lead community relations process for their programs.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision for student staff assisting in the facilitation of co-curricular programs.
  • Support VSL programming through event planning, logistical support, and event participation.
  • Actively participate in various teams and committees as assigned, contributing to the advancement of the Office of the Dean of Students, and the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in higher education or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work well as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail and follow instructions without close supervision.
  • Goal-driven, self-directed and creative with excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Master's degree.
  • Three years of relevant work experience in higher education or a related field.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and executing events or college student programming.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination.
  • Experience in community-based work, whether at a university, corporation, or nonprofit.
  • Conversational fluency in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with social media and web applications for outreach, productivity and project management.
