About The Position

This position provides leadership for the students/athletes who participate in varsity sports and physical education at University of Saint Joseph. The position calls for the person to generate enthusiasm for the sport and teach a team and a sportsmanship approach to students. Administers and develops all aspects of the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball program including recruiting, retention, technical and tactical development of the team, in and off-season conditioning programs and training, scouting, supervising assistant coach, maintaining budgets and fundraising. Provide a positive role model and leadership to the team, as well as excellent communication skills. Plan season competition schedule, coordinate travel, plan and conduct practices. Effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the University and its programs, personnel, and mission. Maintain a high level of professionalism on and off the field toward student-athletes, other coaches, parents, administrators, and members of the community. Monitor and manage the women’s volleyball budget and program resources. Participate in department fundraising initiatives. Ensures compliance with all University, GNAC and NCAA Division III rules and regulations. Will teach 3 courses during the academic year. Perform game management duties in off season. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required
  • 2-3year's experience in coaching at the college level and college teaching experience preferred.
  • AED, CPR, and First Aid certified
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
  • AED, CPR, and First Aid certified.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, as noted below, with or without reasonable accommodation.
