Position Summary: The Voice Specialist is responsible for teaching music classes, ensembles, and lessons in the area of voice at the Patel Conservatory throughout our school year and summer sessions. The position provides support for the artistic and administrative staff, as well as works with parents and volunteers to achieve artistic and financial program objectives. Support includes scheduling, recruiting, marketing, and other duties as necessary and assigned.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in music education, business, and production practices.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated practice of effective classroom management strategies to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Experience with successfully recruiting and retaining music students.
  • Collaborative teaming skills with children, parents, educators, administrators, and artists.
  • Experience with building music curriculum and programs.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to pass a level 2 fingerprint screening.
  • Bachelor's degree in vocal music education required
  • Significant teaching experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches music classes that include, but are not limited to, Vocal Arts choirs and ensembles, Voice Class, Diction, and other classes in area of expertise.
  • Teaches private lessons (limited to five hours per week), as needed, in area of expertise.
  • Teaches Choral Intensive, A-Cappella Workshop, Opera Workshop, and other summer camps and classes in area of expertise
  • Schedules student auditions and class/ensemble placements and communicates this information to teachers, students, and parents.
  • Coordinates with Music Department Chair, Education Programs Manager, and other departments to recruit and provide community outreach services for the Conservatory, as assigned.
  • Maintains consistency in music programs policies as they relate to overall Conservatory policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a coach, conductor, or audition judge, as needed, in area of expertise.
  • Oversees the vocal music library, including organizing and cataloging music.
  • Supports all education programs, classes, and special events as requested.
  • Attends specified evening and weekend performances and rehearsals as required.
  • Attends mandatory teacher training and facility meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
