The Center for Voice Care and Swallowing Disorders at The Ear, Nose, Throat and Plastic Surgery Associates in Orlando, Florida is seeking a full-time speech-language pathologist with expertise in voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders. The center provides evaluation and treatment for a wide variety of voice, laryngeal function, and upper airway disorders, implementing videostroboscopy and FEES along with other physiologic measures. Preference will be given to applicants with 2 or more years of voice, upper airway, and aerodigestive disorders experience, as well as experience in the management of patients with head and neck cancer.

  • Providing appropriate clinical information to providers and patients.
  • Reviewing expectations about the treatment and/or procedure with the patient.
  • Ensure all appointments, including add-ons and walk-overs are added to the appointment schedule.
  • Evaluating voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders using auditory-perceptual measures (e.g., CAPE-V), acoustic measures, performing videostroboscopy exams with rigid and flexible scopes, and completing FEES exams.
  • Collaborating with team members including laryngologists in evaluation and treatment of patients.
  • Complete intake and auditory-perceptual evaluation in conjunction with Botox clinic for pts with Spasmodic Dysphonia and MTD.
  • Assists physician with in-office vocal cord augmentation procedures through use of laryngeal imaging.
  • Shows knowledge of anatomy and physiology of vocal mechanism regarding speaking and singing professional voice users.
  • Assisting in care for patients with Head and Neck Cancer (e.g., TEP) if applicable.
  • Identifying treatment options.
  • Create and conduct individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs. (e.g., Resonant Voice Therapy, SOVTs, Flow Phonation, PhoRTE)
  • Utilize hierarchal and non-hierarchal therapy methods aligned with evidence-based practice to improve vocal function.
  • Collaborating with patients on patient education, swallow exercises, and compensatory strategies to optimize swallowing function and swallow safety.
  • Counseling individuals and families on ways to manage voice, upper airway, and swallow disorders.
  • Applies knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric).
  • Demonstrates competence, awareness, and sensitivity of the physical, emotional, and sociopsychological needs of patients of all ages.
  • Develops and implements treatment plan according to a valid prescription and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains ongoing continuing education to maintain professional licensure and clinical excellence.
  • Establishes a plan of care for each patient including mutually established goals, considering patient age and educational level. Progress toward goals will be documented and reported to the physician per departmental and applicable regulatory policy.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate patient care records according to departmental protocols and demonstrates basic competency for completing accurate billing and electronic documentation.

  • Master’s Degree in Speech language Pathology and current CCC-SLP licensure through ASHA and license with the state of Florida.
