About The Position

Rainbow Omega is a faith-based non-profit organization that provides vocational and residential programs to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Rainbow Omega is seeking committed, compassionate and patient people to care for those we serve. The Vocational Trainer assists the Vocational Director in the implementation of vocational programs, supervises and assists trainees involved in vocational training. The Vocational Trainer knows each trainee personally, can respond to his or her needs, can help determine each person’s potential for vocational work/activities and can help each one achieve his or her potential for meaningful job activities within ROI vocational programs. Assists Vocational Director in maintaining the cleanliness, safety and security of the vocational building. Consults with Vocational Director in all aspects of trainee’s vocational activities in planning and implementation of ROI jobs, and supervision, coaching and on-site training of each trainee.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer two years’ work experience in teaching or working with special education/developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Two years of college may be substituted for one year of work experience.
  • Ability to work with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Sensitivity to the emotional needs of others.
  • Ability to organize work duties and motivate trainees.
  • Flexibility to adapt to immediate needs of trainees.
  • Building skills, hand crafts, or any marketable skills desirable.
  • Ability to establish a Christian work environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Vocational Director in the implementation of vocational programs.
  • Supervise and assist trainees involved in vocational training.
  • Know each trainee personally and respond to their needs.
  • Help determine each person’s potential for vocational work/activities.
  • Assist trainees in achieving their potential for meaningful job activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of the vocational building.
  • Consult with the Vocational Director on trainee’s vocational activities.
  • Plan and implement ROI jobs.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and on-site training for each trainee.
