About The Position

The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) position is part of the Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) program, focusing on assisting Veterans and Service members in completing their rehabilitation services. The role involves case management, coordination of rehabilitation and employment services, and providing training and supervision to service providers to ensure quality support for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required to apply for this job.
• Background/suitability investigation is required for selectees.
• Selective Service registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Probationary period may be required for employees and supervisors.
• Education in vocational rehabilitation, vocational or educational counseling, or related fields is required.
• Specialized experience in vocational rehabilitation, counseling, or related fields is required, with specific experience levels depending on the grade (GS-09 or GS-11).

Nice To Haves

• Experience in vocational guidance or teaching in recognized vocational rehabilitation programs.
• Familiarity with available resources for individuals with disabilities or social adjustment problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management services including coordination of all rehabilitation services and employment services.
• Document progress and maintain case records according to VA regulations.
• Provide training and supervision to contract service providers to ensure appropriate service delivery.
• Implement adjustments to rehabilitation plans as necessary for Veterans to meet their goals.
• Research community resources and funding available for consumers.
• Provide comprehensive employment and post-employment services, including assessing employability and developing employment assistance plans.
• Supervise and coordinate rehabilitation services for Veterans or Service members participating in various programs.
