Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess vocational rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; provide counseling and advocacy services; provide appropriate job placement; and determine employment outcome in order to minimize disabling conditions and reduce dependency for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 2 position will work with a specialty caseload that consists of individuals with primary diagnoses of Intellectual Disabilities/Developmental Disabilities, which may include mental health diagnoses and/or physical disabilities. The incumbent will provide supported employment and customized employment services for Individuals with the most significant disabilities. The position will work with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and how it applies to providing services for Individuals with the most significant disabilities based on section 511 of the Rehabilitation Act. The ideal counselor will have a strong background in interagency collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork.
