About The Position

Unitek College is seeking a Part-Time Vocational Nursing Instructor to join our team. This position requires day or weekend clinical availability. The instructor will be responsible for improving the quality of instruction by utilizing innovative teaching methodologies and techniques. The role includes demonstrating or acquiring skills for online activities to enhance course content, assisting in the review and revision of course syllabi, and submitting required program reports to the program director in a timely manner. The instructor will maintain student records, assist with program data collection, and ensure compliance with clinical requirements. Teaching responsibilities include both lecture content and clinical rotations, which may occur at various times and locations. Participation in professional development and committee activities is also expected.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with current licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach.
  • 3 Years bedside experience with Bachelor's Degree or 6 years experience with an Associate's Degree.
  • Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing.
  • Experience demonstrating current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings; ability to work independently without close supervision; broad knowledge of nursing sciences; successful handling of day-to-day operations in the nursing lab; proficient, strong communication skills (verbal and written); current knowledge/experience in clinical setting.
  • Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies/techniques in teaching.
  • Demonstrate or acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Assist with reviewing and revising of syllabus for specific course within the program and instructional guidelines.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms and assist with program data collection that meet set due dates and deadlines.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining student files as relates to clinical requirements, immunizations and educational requirements.
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs.
  • Teach both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends).
  • Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, and take responsibility for staying current with college updates.
  • Actively participate in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as priority.
