About The Position

As a part-time nursing instructor for our LVN program at Unitek Learning, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of nursing education. This position does not require prior teaching experience, but candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of bedside experience as either a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN). Your responsibilities will include improving the quality of instruction through innovative teaching methodologies, utilizing online activities to enhance course content, and assisting with the review and revision of course syllabi. You will also be responsible for maintaining student records, submitting program reports, and keeping current with new technologies and safety regulations. The role involves teaching both lecture content and clinical rotations, which may occur at various times, including days, evenings, and weekends. Additionally, you will participate in professional development and committee activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with current licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach
  • Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing
  • Experience demonstrating current knowledge of nursing practice
  • Ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Broad knowledge of nursing sciences
  • Successful handling of day to day operations in the nursing lab
  • Proficient, strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Current knowledge/experience in clinical setting
  • Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification

Responsibilities

  • Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies/techniques in teaching
  • Demonstrate or acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning
  • Assist with reviewing and revising of syllabus for specific course within the program and instructional guidelines
  • Submit required program reports and forms to Director of the program in a timely manner
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations
  • Maintain student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms and assist with program data collection that meet set due dates and deadlines
  • Assist with updating and maintaining student files as relates to clinical requirements, immunizations and educational requirements
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs
  • Teach both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends)
  • Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, takes responsibility for staying current with college updates
  • Actively participate in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as priority
