About The Position

Purpose Statement: The job of Vocational Job Coach is done for the purpose/s of acting under the direction of the building principal and the vocational special education teacher, assisting with job/work experience opportunities for students who meet program criteria; maintaining liaisons with community leaders and organizations; and providing information and/or direction to students. Essential Functions Collaborates with teacher and the employer for the purpose of providing a variety of strategies to meet the educational needs of the students assigned for on-the-job-training. Maintains a variety of records, schedules, files, etc. for the purpose of documenting and/or providing reliable information. Maintains liaisons with employers, community leaders and organizations for the purpose of building resources and expanding program capabilities. Participates in training and in-service meetings including a defensive driving course for the purpose of receiving information required to perform the functions of the job successfully. Prepares documents (e.g. attendance forms, student evaluation forms, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to staff, students and community, and complying with program requirements. Promotes positive public relations with the community and within the school district for the purpose of ensuring district policies and procedures are followed and program requirements are met. Provides continual supervision at the job site including transfer to and from the site in all community and school base settings for the purpose of providing for the student’s safety and protection and preventing liability issues both for the employer and the district. Transports students for the purpose of providing for their safe transport to their job site for training. Other Functions Assists other personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Requirements

  • SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: concepts of grammar and punctuation.
  • ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining confidentiality; being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; working with frequent interruptions; meeting deadlines and schedules; and working as part of a team.
  • Job related experience is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability
  • complete a defensive driving course to operate a school vehicle
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
