About The Position

The Instructor for Early Youth Employment Services (EYES) will teach the pre-employment vocational training curriculum to high school and transitional-aged students ages 14-21. This role is responsible for delivering services to students with disabilities both in the school environment and during school breaks and summer camp. The PRN Instructor must be flexible to work on an as-needed basis traditionally during normal school hours.

Requirements

  • Education / Experience: Bachelor’s degree in special education, rehabilitation, sociology, behavioral sciences or business administration or related field, preferred OR High School Diploma or GED with at least one of the following:
  • Two years of experience working with students with a disability and a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit at least 15 semester hours in special education, specific disabilities, social work, counseling, business, or a related field
  • a minimum of 60 hours of college credit in special education, specific disabilities, social work, counseling, business or a related field
  • 3 years’ experience in a teaching role, preferred.
  • Experience teaching or working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Results oriented with ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Must be highly organized, accurate in completing work assignments.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with assigned duties.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of Windows environment in Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • General knowledge of other office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax machine, etc.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Teach fully developed pre-employment transitional services curriculum (career exploration, job readiness, self-advocacy, career exploration, and opportunities for post-secondary education, etc.) to high school and transitional-aged students ages 14-21.
  • Complete electronic documentation of services for program participants in accordance with program requirements and policy.
  • Complete and submit monthly participant summary reports along with individual participant timecards for participants for accurate billing.
  • Participate in teacher meet-and-greet meetings with identified schools to establish the schedule of services and needs of the class.
  • Maintain effective control and management of classroom.
  • Complete all required trainings and attend meetings as assigned.
  • Provide EYES services in a minimum of 4 classes during Fall and Spring Session if opportunities are available
  • Educate the community regarding the summer EYES program.
  • Steward excellent customer service and positive, productive relationships with community partners, i.e., educational partners, GVRA, etc.
  • Is a cultural ambassador for the organization fostering an environment of trust, alignment, transparency, and accountability.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, customers, etc.
