About The Position

This Vocational Evaluator position is located in the Greenville VR/IL Unit Office and provides vocational evaluation services primarily to individuals with disabilities referrals for these evaluation services are from VR counselors assigned to the unit and school offices across Pitt and Lenoir counties. The selected candidate provides comprehensive vocational evaluation assessments for persons with a range of disabilities, education levels, and work experience in order to assist with job planning and placement. Job responsibilities include the following: • Administering, scoring, and interpreting an extensive variety of vocational interests, achievements, and psychological tests • Analyzing consumers' medical, psychological, socio-economic, vocational, and educational information • Developing a formal evaluation plan for each client • Conducting community-based assessments and making referrals for evaluation services to the consumer and the rehabilitation counselor(s) • Creating written reports outlining vocational aptitudes, interests, and abilities which are foundational to the vocational planning process • Gathering occupational resource information for better service deliverables • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams and committees for exchange of information and planning • Partnering with consumers and their family members, employers, school personnel, and other community agencies/contacts • Performing other duties as assigned Selected applicant needs to have the means to travel as the job requires.

Requirements

  • Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
  • Master’s degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR Bachelor’s degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or a closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of or experience with the vocational requirements of a wide variety of occupations.
  • Knowledge of or experience with the psychological, social, and special education concepts related to the determination of vocational abilities and potential of individuals with one or more disabilities.
  • Knowledge of or experience with evaluative tests, work sampling, and job trial techniques specific to the vocational evaluation of a client.
  • Ability to administer and interpret a variety of vocational interest, achievement, aptitude and other psychometric tests.
  • Ability to synthesize data and observation reports and make recommendations essential to the rehabilitation process.
  • Ability to express findings and recommendations with oral and written clarity.
