About The Position

The Graduate Vocal Pedagogy assistants work with the Vocal Pedagogy faculty supporting all aspects of course instruction. Courses supported by this position may include Structure and Function of the Vocal Mechanism; History of Pedagogy; and other graduate level courses. Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • This position is for students currently enrolled in either the Musical Theater Vocal Pedagogy MFA or the MM Vocal Pedagogy program at the conservatory.
  • Additionally, they must have taken the class they are assisting with and/or have experience with and deep understanding of the content of the course.
  • They must be able to work independently, recognize issues that need to be addressed and have the self-motivation to address them, be observant in the classroom, be able to work effectively with the student population of the class, and understand their role and the role of the supervising faculty member in the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Vocal Ped Assistants will work both in the classroom and outside of the class setting.
  • They will support the faculty instructor in all areas of classroom management and course preparation including copying, collecting homework, monitoring exams, taking attendance, and facilitating study sessions.
  • They will attend all meetings of their assigned course.
