About The Position
The Vocal Music Teacher position at Des Moines Public School District is a full-time role responsible for delivering a high-quality educational program tailored to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of middle school students. The teacher will be expected to create and implement daily lessons that align with state and district standards, ensuring that they cater to the individual needs of students and promote their growth. The role involves fostering a culturally inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and backgrounds. In addition to lesson delivery, the teacher will participate in professional learning communities within the building and district. This collaboration will focus on planning for instruction, analyzing student data, and creating assessments that effectively measure student learning. Regular communication with families is also a key component of the role, as is the ongoing monitoring of student progress through various data points to guide and individualize instruction. The position requires a commitment to professional development and adherence to the eight Iowa Teaching Standards, demonstrating consistent progress in these areas. The teacher will also be expected to maintain a prompt and regular attendance, uphold confidentiality, and foster harmonious working relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the educational mission of the district.
