Vocal Music Summer Camp (Middle School) - Multiple Positions, Summer 2026 (Temporary)
About The Position
Do you love working with young musicians and inspiring the next generation of singers? The Osher School of Music (OSOM) at the University of Southern Maine is thrilled to launch a brand-new Summer Junior Vocal Music Camp and is seeking talented, enthusiastic music educators and artists to join our inaugural summer camp team. This immersive camp, the Osher Junior Vocal Camp (middle school), offers students a dynamic introduction to vocal music in a collegiate setting. Campers will experience what it’s like to be an Osher School of Music student, explore a range of musical styles, and discover pathways to continue their musical journey at OSOM and beyond. Camp Overview Dates: July 6 – 10, 2026 Location: Crewe Center for the Arts, University of Southern Maine Daily Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Final Performance: July 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Participants: Junior Vocal Camp: Rising 6th – 8th graders Positions Available: Full Chorus Director ($895/week) Musical Theatre Scene Director ($661/week) Electives Block Teachers (2 positions) ($661/week) Camp Pianist ($661/week) About the Roles Camp instructors and staff will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, high-energy, and musically rich experience for campers. Responsibilities vary by position but may include leading ensemble rehearsals, coaching vocal technique, directing musical theatre scenes, teaching elective workshops, accompanying rehearsals and performances, and collaborating with fellow instructors to support the overall camp experience. All positions contribute to the culminating performance and help foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages creativity, confidence, and musical growth. Staff will work closely with OSOM faculty and camp leadership to deliver a high-quality program that reflects the excellence and spirit of the Osher School of Music. Requirements
- Must be a Maine Certified Music Teacher, a Professional Studio Teacher, or Professional Performing Musician or Actor, or show relevant training and experience in the desired discipline.
- Must be able to teach and coach choirs, sectionals, and classes, as appropriate.
