About The Position

As a key member of the GMI Platform Cloud, MSOC, and SIL Operations & I&T Support team, the VMWare Engineer will provide expert-level support for VMWare infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in VMWare administration, troubleshooting, and documentation, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to support integration and test activities. This position is onsite and may require a security clearance.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Demonstrated experience in VMWare infrastructure support, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with system integration, test, and operations in a mission-critical environment.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Experience with both Windows and Linux environments.
• Familiarity with security and compliance requirements for infrastructure systems.
• Ability to work onsite and obtain/maintain a security clearance as required.

Nice To Haves

• VMWare certification (e.g., VCP, VCAP).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments.
• Experience supporting government or defense programs.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
• Experience with automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Familiarity with ITIL or similar frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Provide VMWare infrastructure support, including optimization, troubleshooting, and documentation for the GMI Platform Cloud and related environments.
• Support operations, integration, and test (I&T) activities, ensuring system reliability and performance.
• Perform system upgrades, patch management, and configuration of VMWare environments.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve technical issues and implement best practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for infrastructure and operational procedures.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with security and operational standards.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
