Our work depends on a VMware Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Desktop Engineering Services. As a VMware Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc. In this role, a typical day will include: Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service. Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations Develops system architecture and system design documentation Interacts with the Government regarding technical considerations and regarding associated problems, issues, or conflicts Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline + 6 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
  • Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking
  • Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs
  • VMware Certified Professional certification required
  • Ability to learn new virtualization technologies
  • US Citizenship Required: Yes
